HORSE THIEF
HORSE THIEF
A couple of generations ago,
a band of French horse thieves changed their name from De’Tankterville to Chamberlain
in order to avoid the menacing hand of the French government.
They are my relatives.
A succession of thoughts, images, and emotions pass through the night. The sounds are grainy, disintegrating just before the sunrise. But in that brief moment before dawn, when the air is thick and warm, everything is serene. The land is quiet and still, the oceans calm. And, finally, the day can begin.
Horse Thief is the performance name of musician Chad Chamberlain. Growing up in the foothills of the Adirondacks, Chad connected to their sweeping landscapes, rolling farmland, and prodigious mountains. When he began playing music as a teenager, the resulting compositions were epic and grand, yet thoughtful and intimate. In the way you cook or draw to your favorite music, Chad learned to play guitar to the world around him. When he moved to Maine as a teenager, the ocean, forests, and island archipelagos told a story, and Chad’s music told one of its own. Listening to Horse Thief, the influence of images are obvious and the intent honest. It's about storytelling. Some fables don’t have an ending....but some have hundreds. Horse Thief helps you find them.
